Tuesday, July 30 - Corning Opera House

  • 9:30 a.m. – Networking. Enjoy coffee from Backgrounds Coffee Bar and donuts from Sweet Desires Bakery
  • 10:00 a.m. – Host welcome, followed by introductions
  • 10:15 a.m. – Iowa Tourism Office update
  • 11 a.m. – Discussion topic - Role of volunteers in Corning. Hear how Corning has been successful at keeping its volunteer community thriving. Panelists include Raelynne Risser, Adams County EDC; Betsy Akin, Corning Mainstreet; and Donna Hogan, Adams County EDC
  • 12 p.m. - Lunch (provided) - a Taste of Corning:
  • 12:30 p.m. - Free time to explore downtown Corning OR join a tour of the Corning Opera House
  • 1:00 p.m. – Farm to Table discussion:
    • 1:15 p.m.: Visit and hear the story of Fire and Salt – how it came to fruition, and its role in agritourism and as a "meat boutique". They will share info about their quick growth, which has translated to online presence and a new distribution building in Corning. (approximate 45 minutes)
    • 2:00 p.m. –  Visit Primrose and hear owners Jill and Joel about their farm to table restaurant.
  • 2:30 p.m. – Stop by the old fashioned soda shoppe inside McMahon Pharmacy for a sweet treat (at your expense)
  • 3:00 p.m. - Open Forum or roundtable Q&A at tables.
  • 3:55 p.m. – Group photos and meeting wrap-up.
Optional afternoon suggestions: Optional add-on evening activity:
5:30 p.m.: Dinner at Happy Hollow Golf Club restaurant (at your expense).

Wednesday, July 31, 2024 – Lake Icaria
  • 8:15 a.m. – Discussion: How to partner better with your local conservation teams, with Adams County Conservation.
  • 9 a.m. – Volunteer at Lake Icaria - we will help with some pruning and setting up a new educational classroom!
  • 10 a.m. - Meeting ends
