Helpful Tools to Organize Grant Opportunities
When natural disasters strike, it can be hard to believe that your community can recover. However, in addition to the immediate resources that are made available for emergency recovery, many federal grants for business development and community improvement award extra points to communities who have experienced natural disasters. Some state and federal funding also takes years to make it through the government pipeline, so keep an eye out to help your community recover.

Featured Grant: The Iowa Legislature has appropriated funding to the Community Forestry Grant Program specifically for planting trees in the 27 counties hit by the 2020 derecho. This funding may seem delayed, but most derecho communities have been engaged in helping families with housing, cleanup efforts and other issues. Now it's time to think forward and replace the thousands of destroyed trees that beautified your community for residents and visitors. Reimbursable grants of $500 to $10,000 are available to purchase and plant trees on public land. No match is required. Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2024.
